DIEGO CUSANO
Fantasy and imagination are like muscles: more train them and more they become great and powerful
I know you are a musician as well as being an illustrator: how do you combine these two passions?
There are sensations that can’t be expressed with drawing and in this case I’m able to translate them with the music. The drawing is a representation of my imaginary and untouched world. The music is a representation of my instinctive and pure emotions.
Often you use the food in your drawings: why this choice?
The food has strange forms like clouds: you observe them and think about what they look like.
It’s part of your philosophy to attribute to common objects/things a completely unexpected role, how important is it for you to change the point of view from which you look at the reality and how do you do that?
It’s essentials to change the point of view to be original. The world in which we live influences the way of being and acting of people: I'm not agree ... I do exactly the opposite: I change the reality, its way of appearing and its meaning. To change the reality you have to detach and put everything into question.
Who would you suggest to follow on Instagram and why?
Elia Colombo (@gebelia) is spatial, he uses beautiful contrast and he is fun. Another is Didi Amico Immaginario (@didi_amicoimmaginario) an amazing puppet: to have an imaginary friend is in absolute the best thing. I'm a big fan of oriental culture and I recommend Stefania (@china_time) a very interesting profile in which you can discover culinary aspects and not of oriental culture.

Diego Cusano graduated in Art and Restoration of Pictorial Works in Caserta.
After years of pictorial and musical experiments, between 2009 and 2010, he reaches the first aim: a thesis and the first disc both entitled Piccoli Mondi.
Later he decides to return to the Academy to attend the two-year specialization of Graphic Arts.
In 2013 he released my first unpublished single Never, extracted from EXIT, album released in Finland. In June of the same year he graduated with honors with a thesis entitled Il suono blu.
